We want to \nencourage you to make nominations for any of the awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>Lifetime Achievement Award<\/strong> will recognize \nan individual who has made profound contributions to the field of \nArtificial Life, influencing the work of many others and helping to \nshape the state of the art.<\/li><li>The <strong>Distinguished Early-Career Investigator Award<\/strong> \nwill recognize an individual who is early in their career (typically \npre-tenure), but has already made important contributions to the field \nof Artificial Life.<\/li><li>The <strong>Exceptional Service Award<\/strong> will recognize an \nISAL member who has provided truly exceptional service to the field of \nArtificial Life by, for example, helping to organize the Artificial Life\n community, developing valuable resources, or facilitating \nadministration of ISAL.<\/li><li>The award for <strong>Outstanding Paper of 2018<\/strong> will go to \nthe authors of a paper published in any venue during the previous \ncalendar year (2018) that shows significant potential to advance the \nfield of Artificial Life.<\/li><li>The award for <strong>Outstanding Paper of the Decade, 2004-2014<\/strong>\n will go to the authors of an influential paper published in any venue \nfrom five to fifteen years ago (2004 through 2014) that has had a \nprofound impact on the field of Artificial Life, as evidenced by \nfollow-up research, citations, or attention brought to the field.<\/li><li>The <strong>Education &amp; Outreach Award<\/strong> will go to the \nauthors of an outstanding project that either teaches about Artificial \nLife or uses Artificial Life techniques to teach about another topic, or\n inspires users to learn more on their own.<\/li><li>The <strong>Outstanding Student Publication Award<\/strong> will go \nto a student or postdoc for a paper or other publication that they \npublished while a student; any researcher who is still a student or \nwithin approximately three years of graduation is eligible.  This award \nwill be judged by a committee organized by the ISAL student group, ERA \n(Emerging Researchers In ALife).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To nominate candidates for any of these awards (including self-nominations) please go to: <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/ZtyxpQR3IvkO9izU2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/ZtyxpQR3IvkO9izU2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may wish to consult our <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1tFbllrquublqBGQEdrl6dW4UtjOxFMnteGBkyKBvPhI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">list of previous winners<\/a> when making your nominations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations are encouraged in any area of Artificial Life (including,\n but not limited to agent-based models, complex systems, evolutionary \nrobotics, synthetic biology, biologically inspired art, or other aspects\n of life as it could be.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Award recipients will be chosen by an independent committee of \nmembers of the Society, and will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at <a href=\"http:\/\/2019.alife.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ALIFE 2019<\/a>\n in Newcastle, UK. Nominees are expected to be ISAL members upon \naccepting the nomination. Award winners will be privately notified ahead\n of time and are strongly encouraged to attend the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please submit all nominations by <strong>Monday, April 15th, 2019<\/strong> to guarantee full consideration.
