{"id":847,"date":"2018-01-25T15:54:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T15:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alife.org\/?p=847"},"modified":"2020-01-29T00:02:38","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T00:02:38","slug":"call-for-nominations-2018-isal-award-for-outstanding-student-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alife.org\/call-for-nominations-2018-isal-award-for-outstanding-student-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Nominations: 2018 ISAL Award for Outstanding Student Research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The International Society for Artificial Life (ISAL) <a href=\"http:\/\/isalstudents.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Student Group<\/a> is pleased to announce that nominations are open for the  <strong>2018 ISAL Award for Outstanding Student Research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award will go to the lead author of the best student paper meeting the following requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\nThe paper must either be published during studentship or be based on PhD work and published within two years of graduation\n<\/li><li>\nThe author must be either a current student or within three years of graduation at time of conference (July 2018)\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper can have been published in any peer-reviewed publication venue but the subject must relate to Alife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To nominate candidates for any of these awards (including self-nominations) please go to: <a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/oQjm5M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">http:\/\/goo.gl\/oQjm5M<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations are encouraged in any area of Artificial Life (including,\n but not limited to agent-based models, complex systems, evolutionary \nrobotics, synthetic biology, artificial chemistry, biologically inspired\n art, or other intersections of biology and engineering.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Award recipients will be chosen by a committee consisting of a chair \nof the student group, a member of the ISAL board and a postdoc member of\n the society. The award will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at \nALife 2018 in Tokyo, Japan. The prize will include membership to ISAL, \nregistration at ALife 2018, a talk at the conference and a small cash \nprize to help with expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees are expected to become ISAL members and ISAL Student Group \nmembers upon accepting the nomination, if they are not already.  Award \nwinners will be privately notified ahead of time and are strongly \nencouraged to attend the conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please submit all nominations by <strong>Sunday, February 4th<\/strong>.  Self-nominations are allowed.
