Posters will be displayed in the Pavilion.

Poster Presenters will be provided with half a panel for their display. The size of the panels are 2.4m wide x 1.2m high, that is, your available space will be 1m wide x 1.2m high. See diagram below.

Poster presenters are required to set up their posters by 1.00pm, Wednesday 11 December. The panels will be available in the Pavilion from 10.00am, Wednesday 11 December. Your section of the display panel will have your name pinned to it so that you are able to find it. If you have any questions on the day or require pins or velcro dots please make your way to the Conference Secretariat.

Please note The Conference Organisers are not responsible for any poster material set up or poster material left at the conference. The set up and take down of the displays is solely the responsibility of the presenter.

Poster presenters are requested to be present beside their poster during the poster session time in order to speak with delegates about their work:

DATE: Thursday 12th December TIME: 10.00am - 12.00 noon

There is also a poster spotlight session on Wednesday afternoon:

DATE: Wednesday 11th December TIME: 3.00pm - 4.30pm

You are allowed to present a maximum of two slides. Time is quite tight, so we cannot allow presentations from laptops. The presentations must either be loaded onto the podium PC and tested prior to the spotlight session, or use overhead transparencies (viewgraphs).

If you require items in additional to a poster board, for example power to run a computer or room to display robots. Please send your request to alife@iceaustralia.com by 4 December 2002 and we will advise as soon as possible if we are able to accommodate your needs.

Poster Do and Don'ts

DO'S DON'TS

  • Be with your poster at the scheduled viewing times, so as delegates may discuss your poster with you.
  • Ensure that the poster material is large enough to be viewed from a distance of 1m.

  • Include a section at the top of the poster containing title of paper, name(s) of author(s) and their affiliation(s). The size of the characters for the title should be at least 2.5cm high.

  • Use colour judiciously.

  • Use white space throughout.

  • Use dot points.

  • Use clear, simple an appropriate graphics.

  • Include email addresses and website URL's.

  • Do not display the printed paper only (particularly if its in the proceedings) Include graphs, pictures and diagram.

  • Don't take a passive attitude to presenting your poster, make effort to initiate discussions.

  • Don't cover the poster in text, more material may mean less communication.

  • Do not use different types of text as it is difficult to read.

  • Don't overload your poster with too much data, be realistic about the amount of the time that the average visitor is willing to spend on your poster. Don't use abbreviations, acronyms, and jargon that the viewer will not understand.
